C. Jewel Garcia is an emerging Latinx screenwriter, director, film and TV maker, and entrepreneur who founded the independent film production company, Aguantar. Jewel is a life-long resident of the Chicagoland area and a student in the MFA in Directing for Film and TV at DePaul University. Jewel holds a MS in Leadership for Creative Enterprises and a MS in Communication from Northwestern University. Jewel's passion for media comes from a father and family that emphasize the importance of storytelling and the arts. With the mindset of aguantar (the Spanish word meaning to endure, withstand, and persevere), Jewel strives to make innovative bold independent media while representing marginalized voices in an effort to uplift and empower.
